State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP)

The STIP is a seven-year capital improvement program of transportation projects on and off the State Highway System, funded with revenues from the Transportation Investment Fund, and other funding sources.  The STIP is adopted by the California Transportation Commission (CTC), and is comprised of candidate projects culled from regional transportation planning agencies' Regional Transportation Improvement Programs (RTIPs) and Caltrans' Interregional Transportation Improvement Program (ITIP).  State law requires the CTC to update the STIP biennially, in even-numbered years, with each new STIP adding two new years to prior programming commitments.
